The leadership of the Charitable Organisation "Medical Aid Committee in Zakarpattia" visited Switzerland, where the general meeting of the Parasolka Association took place. According to the already established tradition, the meetings took place in social institutions that have a positive experience of professional work and are ready to share it with interested institutions.
Thus, together with the Swiss partners, the director of CAMZ Nataliya Kabatsiy, and the coordinator of the Committee's projects, Lesya Levko visited the Dietisberg social institution near Basel, where 85 people receive inpatient care and 15 people with mental retardation and mental illness receive full-time care. On the territory of 100 hectares, almost half of which is occupied by forest, there is a real agricultural enterprise. There the inhabitants together with the staff keep 55 cows, are engaged in meat processing and cheese making, there are woodworking and metal workshops, there is a huge fruit garden, and a vegetable garden. This form of interaction and approach to the organisation of life and leisure of the institution's clients have an extremely positive effect both in the integration of persons with disabilities into society and in their own perception of involvement in the common result of work.
In its mission, the Medical Aid Committee in Zakarpattia always adheres to the principles of humanity and usefulness in terms of benefits for the clients - their needs, success, motivation, and so on. And cooperation with Swiss partners is a source of constant exchange of experience, improvement, and deepening of it, in particular, taking into account the best world practices.
For a long time, despite the distance, external factors, the challenges of the pandemic, and closed borders, both Zakarpattia - locally and the development of a responsible civil society of the whole Ukraine benefit from cooperation with Swiss friends. This year, after a fruitful trip to Switzerland, we received feedback from our partners in the form of active participation in the discussion on new approaches to the practice of students who are preparing to provide professional assistance to people with disabilities.
