The events of the Travelling International Documentary Film Festival on Human Rights Docudays UA are ending in Zakarpattia.
The beginning of the festival was marked by the screening of the movie "Bellingcat: Truth in the Post-Truth World" and a discussion with the participation of Mykhaylo Makaruk, the spokesman for the international volunteer community "Inform Napalm".
The next day they watched and talked about the movie "Sakava" from the Netherlands. At the ILKO Gallery the film introduces three Ghanaian youngsters who, out of desperation, turn to internet scamming with the help of black magic. Ama is a young mother and a newcomer on the scene. ‘OneDollar’ tries to save the money to travel to Italy. Francis, who is the most experienced, teaches the others on the tricks of the trade. What is viewed in the West as fraud is seen by the Sakawa boys as the exploitation of available resources. These resources come in the form of electronic waste, dumped in Ghana by the West.
The problem of tolerance, which was celebrated on November 16 by the world, became an additional theme of the film.
“A tolerant person is a person with moral, spiritual values and qualities. As Alexander Dovzhenko wrote, a person must be a Person. This statement indicates that each of us should reflect on our attitude towards others, be able to properly support one another, respect people, listen to other opinions and views. In the movie Sakawa, we saw a kind of self-reflection. Our societies have a very characteristic phenomenon of racism against blacks and other foreigners. However, the inequality in the world has given rise to similar racism against whites. Unfortunately, ignorance and hatred of others are inherent for us as well. The recent case of foreign students in Uzhhorod has shown our level of tolerance… ”, said Natalia Kabatsiy, the co-organizer of the event, Director of the Medical Aid Committee in Zakarpattia.
