As part of the medical component of the project "Improving the Protection of Children in Emergencies in Ukraine by Providing Safe Shelters, Food and Non-Food Items, and Psychosocial Support", the Medical Aid Committee in Zakarpattya donated a large shipment of medicines to the Sumy Regional Center for Emergency Medical Care and Disaster Medicine.

The Center for Emergency Medical Care and Disaster Medicine in Sumy Oblast is a key link of the region’s healthcare system, operating under constant risk due to the region’s location near the front lines. This refers to a 20-kilometer zone of potential and active combat operations, where emergencies, shelling, and artillery and missile strikes occur daily. Emergency medical teams save the lives of the region’s residents every day, responding to challenges related to the war, traffic accidents, mass injuries, wounds, and other emergencies.

In such realities, the availability of a sufficient supply of medicines and medical consumables is one of the key components of the effective work of the teams, alongside the professionalism and coordination of the staff. Therefore, in order to strengthen the material, technical, and resource base of the healthcare facility, the Medical Aid Committee in Zakarpattya purchased and sent a shipment to Sumy Oblast containing medicines, consumables (gastric tubes, wipes, etc.), and medical equipment accessories (a rechargeable battery and a 10-lead patient cable for an electrocardiograph).

The project "Improving the Protection of Children in Emergencies in Ukraine by Providing Safe Shelters, Food and Non-Food Items, and Psychosocial Support" is being implemented by the Charitable Organization "Charity Fund "Medical Aid Committee in Zakarpattya" with the support of "terre des hommes Deutschland e.V." and funding from the German Federal Foreign Office.
