Thanks to the support of partners from the Association SAFE (France), the Medical Aid Committee in Zakarpattya was able to fulfill an urgent request from Kherson.

To support the water and sewerage system, Kherson’s utility workers needed powerful generators to provide backup power for equipment during blackouts. This involves critical infrastructure facilities in four settlements.

The availability of generators for municipal water utilities in communities across the Kherson region is critical to meeting the basic humanitarian needs of the population amid ongoing attacks on energy infrastructure. Since centralized water supply and wastewater systems are entirely dependent on a stable power supply to pumping stations, autonomous energy sources are the only guarantee of preventing sanitary and epidemiological crises and ensuring the functioning of de-occupied territories. This is not merely a technical issue of maintaining networks, but a strategic factor in community resilience, enabling access to drinking water for hospitals, social centers, and thousands of families even during prolonged blackouts.

This is not the first shipment of energy equipment donated to the Kherson region from the Medical Aid Committee in Zakarpattya and international partners. Over the past three years, dozens of generators and power stations of various capacities, autonomous lighting devices, heaters, fan heaters, power cables, and other supplies have been donated to the region.
