Charitable Organization "Charity Fund "Medical Aid Committee in Zakarpattya" continues to implement the PHENIX project, whose activities are designed to strengthen the sustainability of Ukraine's energy sector, particularly in communities.

The project's direct activities are localized in the village of Nyzhnye Selyshche in the Khust district, and its target infrastructure includes healthcare and educational institutions, as well as small agricultural enterprises in the community. Currently, specialists from the NGO "Primavera" have completed an expert study entitled "Territorial Analysis of Sustainable Agricultural Practices and Possible Integrated Approaches to the Implementation of Alternative Energy Sources in Small Farms in Ukraine". Contractors, together with local specialists, have agreed on the technical characteristics of future solar power plants

The project enters the new year 2026 with a solar power plant already installed and operating at the Nyzhnye Selyshche Lyceum. This is a solar power plant with a battery storage system, which significantly reduces the institution's electricity costs and ensures partial energy autonomy for the lyceum in the event of power outages or complete lack of electricity supply.

The project is currently conducting gender research focused on assessing the representation and participation of women and men in selected sectors (energy, education, health, and agriculture), identifying possible gender barriers, stereotypes, or biases that affect access to public services, resources, employment, career growth, or decision-making in these sectors and other areas.

The PHENIX project – Strengthening the resilience of essential services in Ukraine through a decarbonized and sustainable energy supply is being implemented jointly by "Electricians without borders" and the Medical Aid Committee in Zakarpattya in partnership with the NGO "Transcarpathian Association of Local Development" with financial support from the French Development Agency (Agence Française de Développement, AFD).
