Another medical shipment has been delivered to a hospital – this time to the Kharkiv Regional Clinical Perinatal Center. This is part of our project "Improving the Protection of Children in Emergencies in Ukraine by Providing Safe Shelters, Food and Non-Food Items, and Psychosocial Support".
The regional perinatal center is among the top three medical institutions in the Kharkiv region in terms of the number of births and women and newborns treated. The center provides round-the-clock highly specialized obstetric and gynecological care to women in the districts of the Kharkiv region, primarily in de-occupied settlements where women have been without medical care for a long time, as well as to internally displaced persons from all regions of Ukraine (more than 500 patients per year). This includes assistance with premature births, miscarriages, severe obstetric pathologies, high risk of perinatal complications, as well as neonatal care for sick and premature newborns. In 2024, the facility’s doctors provided medical services to more than 2,500 women, and the neonatal department provided care to more than 700 newborns.
To improve the process of providing emergency round-the-clock medical care to newborns, the Medical Aid Committee in Zakarpattya donated a specialized shipment of medicines to the perinatal center in accordance with the list received. The medicines will be used to provide neonatal care to premature and sick newborns, including those with low and extremely low body weight, the institution said.
The project "Improving the Protection of Children in Emergencies in Ukraine by Providing Safe Shelters, Food and Non-Food Items, and Psychosocial Support" is being implemented by the Charitable Organization "Charity Fund "Medical Aid Committee in Zakarpattya" with the support of "terre des hommes Deutschland e.V." and funding from the German Federal Foreign Office.
