Before Easter, we organized a master class in Easter egg making at our Uzhhorod "PrykhystOK", which was conducted by master Olha Matsko. Mothers and their children joined in the traditional ritual.

For some people, Easter eggs using the wax painting technique were their first experience, while others were renewing their skills.

"My mother used to teach me how to paint pysankas, and this tradition has been passed down in our family from generation to generation. I would like to be this important link in the process of preserving history and traditions. Even though the distance from home and my childhood memories is quite long, I feel so nostalgic and glad that I have not lost my skills", said Mariya Kryzhanivska, a resident of the shelter, during the workshop.

The variety of colors, examples of ornaments and other decorations, and the master’s accompaniment made the event meaningful and interesting, as well as warm and cozy. The participants took away with them a unique Easter decor, as well as skills that will allow them to repeat this creative experience at home.

"PrykhystOK" is a part of the project "Mother and Child Home for IDPs in Uzhhorod" which the Medical Aid Committee in Zakarpattya is implementing together with "terre des hommes Deutschland e.V. ". In the institution, residents receive not only a roof over their heads, but also comprehensive support. Thematic meetings, master classes, cultural and educational events are also part of the lives of mothers with children who were forced to leave their homes because of the war and under various circumstances ended up in our "PrykhystOK" in Uzhhorod.
