The full-scale russian-Ukrainian war poses tasks that, at first glance, seem impossible, at second – obviously necessary, and at third – quite real if we unite caring and persistent people around them. Thus, the Medical Aid Committee in Zakarpattya, together with partners from the Association SAFE (France), has already provided four field hospitals and two containers for the frontline, which will be converted into command posts.

The situation at the frontline and near-frontline areas is unpredictable and volatile, and every day there is a risk to the lives of both military and civilians. In such conditions, access to medical care is especially in demand, both to specialists and to specially equipped premises suitable for the relevant manipulations. The idea of mobile or field hospitals came from the military itself. Jacques Duplessy, a co-founder of the Association SAFE, was looking for a suitable facility and found it in the Netherlands. From there, four mobile hospitals have already arrived in Uzhhorod, where they were supplemented with medical equipment, an electric generator and a water pump, and then transported to their places of service. 

A field hospital is quite mobile, easy to transport, can be deployed quickly, and most importantly, it is a full-fledged point for providing medical care, stabilizing patients, and performing surgical operations. According to the military, a field hospital is often the only medical point for several settlements or what is left of them after constant enemy shelling. 

Another need is to equip command posts, for which shipping containers are also quite suitable. Two such containers arrived in Uzhhorod from France in March, and one has already been delivered for conversion into a military unit. It will then be used in the Donetsk direction.

In total, in March 2025 alone, the Medical Aid Committee in Zakarpattya received 10 humanitarian cargoes from its partners from the Association SAFE, and 258 since the beginning of the full-scale russian-Ukrainian war.
