For the second year in a row, the Medical Aid Committee in Zakarpattya has been supporting the humanitarian initiatives of the NGO "Iskra Dobra", which currently cover vulnerable groups in Kherson and Chernihiv oblasts. These are children, in particular, children of military personnel, internally displaced persons, people with disabilities, and the elderly, who currently live in these regions. 

More than 870 thousand servings of hot meals!

Volunteers of "Iskra Dobra" prepared 871 thousand servings of hot meals and distributed 201 600 liters of water to evacuees and locals in Kherson region. In addition, food support was provided to residents of Kherson, Chornobayivka, Antonivka in Kherson Oblast and Semenivka in Chernihiv Oblast.

We still recall the video from Kherson, where an enemy shell landed near the food distribution point. The explosion we heard frightened us on the other side of the screen more than the people in line. This is an illustration of the terrible reality of wartime, which is difficult to correct and impossible to normalize, but this does not stop caring people from trying to help those in need.

Medical Aid Committee in Zakarpattya participated in the technical equipment of the "All-Ukrainian Charitable Kitchen" in Kherson, in particular, by donating heaters, solar panels, generators and kitchen equipment.

Overcoming the consequences of the russian army’s attack on Chernihiv

In April 2024, enemy troops attacked a densely populated area of Chernihiv with cruise missiles, resulting in human casualties. In addition, the attack damaged a social infrastructure facility, 16 houses, and affected communications (electricity and gas). Medical Aid Committee in Zakarpattya supported the organization of meals for rescuers, volunteers, police officers and citizens who were overcoming the consequences of another russian war crime. Thus, the team of "Iskra Dobra" provided almost 950 meals to the liquidators on the spot. In addition, 1200 victims received construction materials to rebuild their damaged homes.

It is possible to create a miracle for children!

We supported the organization of master classes for children for Easter. As a result, 500 festive Easter sets were distributed to the young participants, including children of fallen Heroes, children from military families, children with disabilities, children from large families..., and later volunteers prepared and delivered another 3140 festive sets to children. 

Later, the New Year’s Eve workshops brought together 375 children who had fun baking and decorating muffins, Christmas stollen and cupcakes. The volunteers of "Iskra Dobra" also congratulated the children from Chernihiv Educational and Rehabilitation Center No. 2 and children from the frontline settlements.

The partners of the Charitable Organization "Charity Fund "Medical Aid Committee in Zakarpattya" – the Association "Parasolka", the Association "Network Switzerland – Transcarpathia/Ukraine" (NeSTU) and the Ouest-France Foundation (France) – contributed financially to the implementation of these humanitarian initiatives.
