Since the fall of 2023, the Medical Aid Committee in Zakarpattya has been financially supporting the initiative of the NGO "Iskra Dobra" to provide hot lunches to residents of Kherson.
Every day, volunteers feed from 750 to 1500 citizens – the elderly, IDPs, people with disabilities, and Kherson residents who lost their homes due to enemy shelling.
Six volunteers – four cooks and two drivers – work daily at five locations in the city. These are both human queues and shelters where Kherson residents who were forced to leave their homes damaged by the enemy are forced to live. Given the constant attacks by russians in the region, the organizers change the location of the hot meals every time and generally follow all the safety rules under martial law.
The Committee also purchased powerful washing machines and dryers for common use in Kherson and donated about a hundred heaters to the affected civilians. Currently, the organization has decided to purchase a large batch of drinking water for Kherson residents, as the city has major problems with access to quality water.
