The Medical Aid Committee in Zakarpattya, as part of the project "Improving the Protection of Children in Emergencies in Ukraine by Providing Safe Shelters, Food and Non-Food Items, and Psychosocial Support", donated aid to equip a women’s health room in the Antenatal Clinic No. 2 (Women’s Health Clinic) of the Uzhhorod City Maternity Hospital.

The medical facility received a modern examination chair designed, among other things, for people with certain physical disabilities, and a surgical diathermocoagulator. According to the doctors, the need for such a chair is great, and it is difficult to find the appropriate equipment for the examination room. Now, women with disabilities who are clients of Uzhhorod Antenatal Clinic No. 2 have the opportunity to receive high-quality, and most importantly, convenient medical services.

"Our medical facility sees about 2,000 patients annually, one third of whom need diagnosis and treatment of cervical pathologies", said Anzhela Pekar, an obstetrician-gynecologist.

According to the doctors of the medical institution, today radio wave surgery is the most modern method of treatment with a minimum level of trauma. The method is used to treat various cervical pathologies. With this type of exposure, specialists perform tissue biopsies and remove various neoplasms, including papillomas and condylomas of the female genital organs. The radio wave coagulation procedure allows you to effectively remove pathological changes in the cervix that are not amenable to medical treatment, while preserving the structure of the cervix. This is especially suitable for women who have not given birth and those patients who are planning repeated pregnancies.

Earlier, the Uzhhorod Antenatal Clinic No. 1 received a hysteroscope with high-quality optics, an endoscopic camera, a fetal monitor, a calposcopic system and a gynecological chair from CAMZ to provide high-quality diagnosis and treatment for its clients.

As a reminder, the project "Improving the Protection of Children in Emergencies in Ukraine by Providing Safe Shelters, Food and Non-Food Items, and Psychosocial Support" is being implemented by the Medical Aid Committee in Zakarpattya with the support of "terre des hommes Deutschland e.V." and funding from the Federal Foreign Office of Germany.
